SKSK (Shigeru Kimura Shukokai Karate)
Sensei Chris Ensil, 8th Dan, has studied Traditional Kimura Shukokai Karate for the past 50+ years, his proficiency and mastery in the style has led him to start his own International Organization as of January 2026.
Sensei Chris Ensil, 8th Dan, has studied Traditional Kimura Shukokai Karate for the past 50+ years, his proficiency and mastery in the style has led him to start his own International Organization as of January 2026.
Sensei Chris also studies Sports Karate & he holds a 4th Dan in Kickboxing as well.
In 1996 he was invited to attend an International Symposium for National Coaches in Brisbane, Australia. He was the South African Junior Protea Karate Coach in 1996 and the Senior Protea Karate Coach from 1996 to 2003.
He has also achieved International Coaching status since teaching abroad. Sensei Chris Ensil is a past Western Province, Boland and National Champion; has been a finalist at world championships since 1991; and went on to win the World Champion title in 2004 & 2014.

He has produced many Provincial, National, All-Africa and World Champions in each of three categories: Non-contact, Semi-contact and Full-contact karate.
In his Stable are many World Champions namely Clayton Adams, Chè le Roux, Anele Ntanga, Graeme Budge, Xzenophine Hael and Dalen Goliath to name but a few.
Since unity was achieved in all sport codes, our Karate School has held the highest percentage of students in the South African National teams. Our juniors rank among the best in the world.
In 1993, the first junior Springbok/Protea team consisting of forty members competed at the Junior World Cup in Budapest. South Africa came first overall. Three of the team members were from Northpine under Sensei Chris's coaching methods.
In 1994, the team doubled and seven members were from Northpine.
In 1995 nine of our students qualified to represent South Africa. That year, the late, Ivan Van Schoor came fourth and captained the SA Team.
In 1996, the Junior & Cadet World Champs were hosted by South Africa. The team consisted of 120 members from 22 provinces. Northpine had 12 students who made the team; more than most provinces and most National Organisations.
1997 produced four senior Springbok/Proteas, namely Elton Wicomb, Liesle Alexander, Ivan Van Schoor and Margaux Louw (aka Aminah Stephanus).
From 1998 to 2025 Sensei Chris produced many more provincial, national and world champions.
Today there are satellite dojo's under the umbrella of Shigeru Kimura Shukokai Karate such as :
